Regular verbs

Regular verbs

To form the simple past of regular verbs in English, we most add "ed" or "r" to the basic form of the verb.

If a regular verb ends in consonant or a vowel other than "e", the ending "es" is added.
For example:

Miss - missed
Kiss - kissed

If a regular verb end with the letter e, the ending - d is added. For example:

Hope - hoped

When a verb ends in a copnsonant plus "y", you have to change it and before you add the ending "ed". For example:

Study - studied
